Taurus ruled by Mercury

The following excerpt is taken from this more detailed post:

"The spirit evolves out of Aries into the body, and the simple material form of Taurus. In the old rulership we said that Taurus ruled Venus, and I think that doesn't really give credit to either Taurus or Venus. Taurus is a sensual and pleasure driven sign yes, but that's not what Venus is really about.

In the new planet rulership, we assign Taurus to Mercury and that's because of the material effect that mercury has on everything in our conscious life. Mercury deals with day to day affairs, ordinary transactions in life, that are critical for how we acquire material possessions.

Mercury is the gears of life that turn and move us forward in our physical reality, inch by inch, and we see how things are effected when Mercury is in Retrograde. It is cited that:

"By using 48 countries' stock market indices, we find that stock market returns are 3.33% lower annually during Mercury Retrograde periods than in other periods."

This is small but significant and something we can count on every Mercury retrograde. This fall in revenue when Mercury is in retrograde shows that "our thoughts are things", it calls us to take heed to the material reality that our mind is effecting reality whether we consciously are aware of it or not.

Mercury, and Taurean nature deals with the fundamentals of physics, which includes metaphysics, and our ability to shift the material world with our minds through manifestation and law of attraction.

Looking at the glyph of Mercury, to me, it looks like a cross between Venus and Taurus. Mercury is the bridge that connects Taurus to Venus, by reconciling with the physical world, we are able to experience the Venusian influence and have love or value in our life.

When we allow Taurus to rule Mercury, it brings our attention to these principles, and allows us a better understanding of the power of the subtle energies around us and within our own minds and efforts."

Unevolved Taurus Traits:

When an Taurus is unevolved, they often struggle with stubbornness, which can damage relationships and prevent opportunities. A stubborn Taurus might have trouble apologizing when they are wrong, or did something wrong or hurtful, they might have trouble changing direction or sudden changes, and can lack flexible thinking. This makes them reliable, but Taurus must realize that only certain values and virtues are worthwhile to stand their ground on. They must ask themselves, is this preventing better opportunities from entering my life? Am I embracing the magic of transformation and change?

Their materialistic nature can also get them into trouble financially, spending money on immediate wants, rather than long term needs. When Taurus is unevolved, they lean into their carnal nature, and struggle with self discipline, balance, and in the wrong environment, such as the United States, we see many overweight and unhealthy Tauruses that struggle with binge eating disorders and obesity.

Evolved Taurus Traits:

An evolved Taurus has made room for the inevitable change required of us throughout our lives. This involves a confrontation with the difficult aspects to Taurus, which would be Scorpio opposition (180 Degrees), and the square (90 degrees) to Leo, and Aquarius. An evolved Taurus embraces the understanding that comes from transformation through painful experiences with others. Taurus evolves when they learn to defend themselves, and hold others and themselves accountable for their values and virtues that should be permanent and everlasting.
